Memorial Day is an important federal holiday in the United States. Memorial Day is currently observed on the last Monday of May to remember all of the people who have died while serving in the armed services.

This year, Ocala is fortunate to have the traveling Vietnam War Memorial Wall visit the Ocala/Marion County Veteran’s Memorial Park on Fort King Street. There will be a special event starting at 10:00 a.m. on Memorial Day.

On Memorial Day, the flag of the United States is raised briskly to the top of the staff and then solemly lowered to the half-staff position, where it remains until Noon. It is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day. Our bank will be closed on Monday, May 28th 2018 so that our families can observe Memorial Day.

For many Americans, this day also marks the unofficial start of summer vacation season. If you are traveling this weekend be safe and have a wonderful Memorial Day.
