Our Green for Life efforts this year has been a growing success! Employee recommendations are being implemented by our new Green for Life team. The bank has challenged employees this year to recycle with recycling bins in each branch, along with getting cash for cans by scrapping our aluminum cans for a profit that will be donated to a charity in our community. Our can recycling has been a great success even with the price of aluminum going up and down like the stock market.
Community Bank & Trust of Florida has implemented many energy savings programs this year to reduce our carbon footprint:
- Programmable thermostats in every branch
- Window tinting
- Filters on all water faucets - No more Bottled Water!
- Best practices i.e. turning off lights to offices not in use, turning off computers not in use, etc.
- Well water for the main branch irrigation system.
- Recycling of cans, plastics, paper and glass
- E-Statements - It's safe and secure and very green too!

- Americans use 50 million tons of paper annually, consuming more than 850 million trees - If the American family used one less plastic shopping bag each week, its estimated we would save 3.8 billion bags per year
- Outdoor water use accounts for up to 50 percent of water consumed by households
- 687,000 tons of paper could be saved if every U.S. household stopped receiving paper statements/bills. That's enough to circle the Earth 239 times!
Our Green for Life goal is to continue with energy efficiency, community sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint. With the help of our employees and our customers we can make a difference.
